P2157
Fuel Injector Group D Supply Voltage Circuit High
Injector circuit
Generic OBD-II
High
What it means
P2157 means the PCM detects the supply voltage on the "D" group of fuel injectors reading too high (a short to voltage or an open circuit). With the supply out of range those injectors can't fire properly, so the affected cylinders may misfire, run rough, or fail to start. It usually traces to wiring or the injector control module.
High
Can I keep driving? Fix promptly β an out-of-range injector supply on a group of cylinders can cause misfires, rough running, stalling, or a no-start on those cylinders.
Common symptoms
What you'll notice
- Check-engine light on
- Misfire, rough running, or loss of power
- Hard starting or a no-start on the affected cylinder group
- Stalling or hesitation
Common causes
Most likely first
- Short to voltage or an open in the injector Group D supply (power) circuitLikely
- Poor connector contact or corrosion at the injector/module plugCommon
- Faulty injector control module / driver (FICM)Common
- Wiring routed against or shorted to a power sourceLess often
How to diagnose & fix
Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and check for companion injector codes (P2155, P2156).
- Visually inspect the Group D injector harness and connectors for damage, chafing, and corrosion.
- Check the injector control module (FICM) supply voltage circuit for a high or shorted reading.
- Test the control module ground circuits against battery ground for a poor ground that can skew the reading.
- If wiring and grounds are good, replace the injector control module as specified.
FAQ
Quick answers
Is it safe to drive with P2157?+
Not for long β an out-of-range injector supply can drop cylinders, causing misfires and possible converter damage. Have it repaired before extended driving.
Can I just clear P2157?+
It comes back once the high/short supply condition returns; the circuit or control module must be repaired first.
