P2763

Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit High

Automatic transmission Generic OBD-II Medium

What it means

P2763 means the PCM saw a high (out-of-range) voltage on the torque converter clutch (TCC) pressure control solenoid circuit. This solenoid modulates how the torque converter locks up, so a fault causes shudder, harsh lock-up, or slipping, and can hurt fuel economy. If the converter stays applied you may feel a lug or stall when stopping. The cause is usually a wiring short or a failed solenoid, sometimes aggravated by low or dirty fluid.

Medium

Can I keep driving? Driveable but expect torque-converter shudder, harsh lock-up, or reduced fuel economy; if the converter stays locked you may feel a lug or stall when stopping, so fix it soon.

Common symptoms

What you'll notice

Common causes

Most likely first

  1. Short-to-voltage or open in the TCC pressure control solenoid circuit
  2. Faulty torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid
  3. Corroded or loose connector
  4. Low or dirty transmission fluid
  5. Faulty TCM/PCM

How to diagnose & fix

Work through it in order

  1. Check transmission fluid level and condition.
  2. Scan and watch the TCC solenoid command versus actual lock-up data.
  3. Inspect the solenoid wiring and connector for a short-to-power or open.
  4. Measure the solenoid resistance against specification.
  5. Inspect the valve body; replace the solenoid if faulty, then clear and re-test.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is it safe to drive with P2763?+
Light driving is usually possible, but the torque converter clutch may shudder or engage harshly, and a stuck-applied converter can stall the engine at a stop. Have it repaired soon.
Can I just clear P2763?+
It returns once the module re-tests the circuit high. Fix the solenoid, wiring, or fluid issue first, then clear and re-test.
