P2149

Fuel Injector Group B Supply Voltage Circuit/Open

Fuel injection Generic OBD-II High

What it means

P2149 means the supply-voltage circuit feeding fuel injector group "B" is open or not delivering the expected power. Injectors are wired in groups, so if that feed is lost the whole group can stop firing β€” leading to a heavy misfire, the engine running on partial cylinders, or a no-start. This is a genuine fuel-delivery fault, usually in the wiring, a connector, or the injector control module.

High

Can I keep driving? A whole group of injectors can lose power, so the engine may misfire badly, run on part of its cylinders, or fail to start β€” treat it as a repair-now fault.

Common symptoms

What you'll notice

Common causes

Most likely first

  1. Open or shorted supply-voltage wiring to injector group B
  2. Poor, corroded, or loose connector in the group B supply circuit
  3. Faulty fuel injector control module (FICM) / driver supplying the group
  4. Blown fuse or relay feeding the injector group (where fitted)

How to diagnose & fix

Work through it in order

  1. Read freeze-frame data and do a careful visual inspection of the injector group B wiring and connectors.
  2. Check the supply voltage feeding the injector group / FICM against battery voltage.
  3. Test the control-module ground circuits against battery ground for a clean, low-resistance path.
  4. Confirm any relevant fuses or relays, then repair the open circuit or replace the control module if it isn't supplying voltage.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is it safe to drive with P2149?+
No. If a group of injectors loses supply voltage the engine can misfire severely or quit, which risks converter damage and leaving you stranded β€” get it repaired first.
Can I just clear P2149?+
It will return immediately if the circuit is open. This is a power-supply fault to the injectors, so the wiring or control module must actually be repaired.
