What it means
P0314 means the engine detected a misfire on one cylinder, but the system did not (or could not) pin down which one. Fuel isn't burning properly in that cylinder, so the engine runs rough and loses power. Like other misfire codes it matters: sustained misfiring can overheat and destroy the catalytic converter.

Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and look for a companion cylinder-specific code (P0301–P0312) to identify the miss.
- Inspect and swap the spark plug and coil into another cylinder to see if the misfire follows.
- Check fuel delivery for that cylinder — injector operation and fuel pressure.
- Test for a vacuum leak around the intake.
- If it persists, run a compression test to rule out a mechanical fault. Clear and re-test.
