What it means

P009D means the ECM has detected an abnormally high voltage on the control circuit for the fuel pressure relief valve — the valve that lets excess fuel pressure bleed off on a high-pressure (direct-injection or diesel) fuel system. Because it affects fuel-pressure regulation, the engine may fall back to a reduced-power mode until the circuit is repaired.

  4. Recheck fuel-pressure data on a scan tool, then clear and retest. Consider the ECM only as a last resort.
