What it means
P2485 means the ECM has detected an open circuit at the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor for bank 2, sensor 5 — the signal is missing rather than merely wrong. EGT sensors monitor exhaust heat to protect the turbo and particulate filter and to control diesel regeneration. The car usually still drives, but the ECM has no valid reading from that sensor until the circuit is repaired.
