P2263

Turbocharger/Supercharger A Boost System Performance

Turbo / boost control Generic OBD-II Medium

What it means

P2263 means the engine computer sees the boost pressure from the turbo or supercharger falling outside the expected range β€” either too high or too low for the demand. The usual result is reduced power or a limp-mode derate. Common causes are a stuck wastegate, a boost leak, or a faulty boost-control solenoid or sensor.

Medium

Can I keep driving? Usually drivable, but expect reduced power or limp mode β€” over- or under-boost can stress the engine, so fix it before hard driving.

Common symptoms

What you'll notice

Common causes

Most likely first

  1. Stuck or leaking wastegate / boost-control valve
  2. Faulty boost-control (turbo) solenoid or its vacuum lines
  3. Boost leak β€” split hose, loose clamp, or intercooler leak
  4. Faulty boost/MAP pressure sensor giving a wrong reading
  5. Wiring or connector fault at the boost-control actuator
  6. Worn turbocharger or sticking variable-vane mechanism

How to diagnose & fix

Work through it in order

  1. Read freeze-frame data and note whether boost is too high or too low.
  2. Inspect all charge-air hoses, clamps, and the intercooler for leaks.
  3. Check the wastegate/boost-control actuator and its vacuum lines for sticking.
  4. Test the boost-control solenoid and its wiring/connector.
  5. Verify the MAP/boost sensor reading against actual pressure, then clear and re-test.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is it safe to drive with P2263?+
Short trips are usually fine, but power will be down and the engine may be in limp mode. Persistent over-boost can damage the turbo or engine, so don't drive hard until it's fixed.
Can I just clear P2263?+
It clears, but returns once the ECM sees boost out of range again. Find the leak, sticking wastegate, or sensor fault first.
