P000E

Fuel Volume Regulator Control Exceeded Learning Limit

Fuel & air metering Generic OBD-II High

What it means

P000E means the ECM has used up all of its adjustment range trying to control the fuel volume regulator and still can't hit the target fuel pressure. That usually points to a mechanical fuel-supply problem β€” a weak pump, a leaking regulator or a restriction β€” rather than a simple electrical glitch. The engine may run poorly, start hard or stall, so it should be diagnosed soon.

High

Can I keep driving? May still run, but the fuel system can no longer compensate for a supply problem β€” expect hard starts, low power or stalling, so repair soon.

Common symptoms

What you'll notice

Common causes

Most likely first

  1. Weak or failing fuel pump (can't supply commanded pressure)
  2. Leaking or stuck fuel pressure regulator
  3. Restricted fuel filter or supply line
  4. Wiring or connector fault at the regulator
  5. Failed ECM (least likely)

How to diagnose & fix

Work through it in order

  1. Read freeze-frame data and check live fuel-pressure values against the commanded target.
  2. Inspect the fuel filter and supply line for restriction, and confirm pump output pressure/volume.
  3. Test the pressure regulator for internal leakage or sticking; replace if it can't hold target.
  4. Check the regulator wiring and connector, then consider the ECM only if everything else is good. Clear and re-test.

FAQ

Quick answers

Is it safe to drive with P000E?+
Only briefly. The code means fuel-pressure control has run out of adjustment room, so a stall or no-start can follow.
Can I just clear P000E?+
Clearing resets the learned values, but they will drift back to the limit until the underlying fuel-supply fault is repaired.
