What it means

P2472 sets when the bank 1, sensor 4 exhaust-gas-temperature (EGT) signal cuts out or jumps around instead of reading steadily. The computer uses exhaust heat to protect the catalyst and diesel particulate filter and to time regeneration. "Intermittent/erratic" almost always points to a loose connector or chafed wiring rather than an engine fault.
