What it means
P0554 means the engine computer is seeing an intermittent (dropping-in-and-out) signal from the power steering pressure sensor. The ECM uses this input to raise idle speed when you turn the wheel hard, so a bad signal mainly causes idle dips or stalls during low-speed maneuvers. Your steering assist itself is not affected.
