Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and inspect the IAC valve connector and wiring for shorts-to-voltage, opens, or corrosion.
- Remove and clean the IAC valve and throttle-body passage of carbon, a common cause of erratic idle.
- Test the IAC valve's resistance/operation against spec and replace it if faulty.
- If wiring and valve are good, have the ECM evaluated. Clear the code and re-test idle.
