What it means
P0519 means the idle air control system isn't holding the idle speed the ECM is commanding. It manages how much air bypasses the throttle at idle, so when it underperforms the engine can idle erratically, run rough, or stall when you come to a stop. The most common causes are carbon buildup, a failing IAC valve, or a vacuum leak, and the engine is usually driveable while it's diagnosed.

How to diagnose & fix
Work through it in order
- Read freeze-frame data and note the idle behaviour when it set.
- Clean the throttle body and idle air passages of carbon.
- Check for vacuum leaks around the intake that would upset idle.
- Test the IAC valve's operation and wiring; replace the valve if it fails.
- Consider the ECM only after cleaning, leaks, and the IAC valve are ruled out. Clear and re-test.
