What it means

P033C means the ECM sees an abnormally low voltage on knock sensor D's circuit β€” typically a short to ground, a wiring fault, or a failed sensor. The knock sensor lets the ECM detect pinging and retard timing to protect the engine; with it offline the ECM uses conservative timing, so you may lose a little power and economy, but the car still starts and runs.
